was a full-bore, multi-stage solid rocket system which could be fired from
the Barbados 16", 86 calibre smooth bore cannon, to place a payload in
the range of 25 to 50 lb. in low earth orbit. All components of the Martlet
4 were designed to withstand peak in-bore acceleration levels of 10,000 gs.
With a launch weight of 2000 to 2500 pounds, the maximum in-bore acceleration
level generally experienced was in the range of 5000 gs, roughly half the
component proofing g-loading.
